Rey Fernando de Castilla

The only Jerez bodega you reach on foot from the centre

The other two Jerez houses sit on the outskirts. Not this one: it's in the old town, in the heart of the flamenco quarter of Barrio de Santiago, and you walk out of it straight into the city. The visit lasts ninety minutes and covers the house's history, the ageing system, the types of crianza, and the wines and brandies of Jerez explained one by one. Three sherries and a brandy are tasted, with salty snacks. That the brandy comes as standard isn't usual: at the other houses it's either an extra or a separate tasting. And it's a short walk from the Real Escuela Andaluza de Arte Ecuestre — bodega in the morning, horses after, without ever getting in the car.

Visit and tasting

90 min · Mon–Fri mornings, advance booking

Tour of the bodega, the ageing system and the crianzas, and a tasting of three Jerez wines and a brandy with salty snacks.

And the afternoon, to the horses

priced by day/show

Real Escuela Andaluza de Arte Ecuestre, a short walk away

We book it for the same afternoon and the day is complete without getting in the car once. The bodega has also left the door open to arranging an afternoon group with notice — worth more on a golf trip than a morning slot.

The bodega of the free day: a morning of wine, lunch in Jerez and an afternoon of horses — all on foot, no car needed once.

How to book it

Rey Fernando de Castilla is not included in the price of any stay: it is booked through us and paid at its own rate. We set the time, notify the winery and fit in the afternoon with the horses if wanted.
