Barceló Montecastillo Golf 5★ · Jerez de la Frontera
The Marco de Jerez is a triangle of white chalk soil between Jerez, Sanlúcar and El Puerto, and it's the only place in the world where wine ages under a living veil of yeast that protects it from the air for years. That's where fino, manzanilla, amontillado and palo cortado come from. And inside that triangle is the golf. This isn't a golf stay with a tasting thrown in: it's the other way around. The houses that explain the whole Marco are what's included here. Tradición, the only Jerez winery that bottles only very old wines, with a picture gallery of Velázquez, Zurbarán and Goya among the casks and the oldest surviving archive of wine, from 1650. Hidalgo La Gitana, in Sanlúcar, in the same family since 1792, with a restaurant inside the winery. And Williams & Humbert, fifty thousand square metres and sixty thousand casks. You always sleep in the same place: a nineteenth-century castle overlooking Jack Nicklaus's course, ten minutes from Jerez, and you play five rounds across Montecastillo, Sherry Golf and Villanueva.

Cádiz's two wine capitals in the same week. In Jerez, Tradición: the winery, the picture gallery and a tasting of thirty-year-old wines, with hot and cold tapas served right there. In Sanlúcar, Hidalgo La Gitana: the visit tasting glass in hand and afterwards the EntreBotas Experience, a tasting menu paired dish by dish inside the winery itself, with five wines. And in between, five rounds at Montecastillo, Sherry Golf and Costa Ballena. From ten adults.
from €1,170
The same golf and the same two wineries, with both tastings taken all the way up. At Tradición, their VOS and VORS averaging thirty years old, which is all they bottle. At Hidalgo, the EntreBotas Experience with a tasting of wines over sixty years old. These are wines that at most Marco wineries never come out for a visit. From ten adults.
from €1,195
For two, up to five. Three hours at Tradición with no one else in the winery: the brandy hall and the 1650 historical archive, not part of any normal visit; the picture gallery with all the time you need; and an unlisted tasting, sampling the house's oldest wines and brandies at will, with tapas served in the Museum or one of its courtyards. Plus a tasting at Williams & Humbert and five rounds at the Nicklaus course. From two to five people.
Per person in a Superior double room, bed and breakfast · winter season · each stay has its own group size, indicated with it.
Tradición's private visit doesn't appear on any website: two or three hours with no one else present, with the brandy and the historical archive not included in the normal visit, free tasting of its oldest wines and tapas in the Museum or one of the courtyards. It's the catalogue's anniversary product, and it occupies the third of these three stays.
On top of the week we build whatever you want to experience, booked and quoted firm: the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art; the restaurants of Jerez and El Puerto; Sanlúcar, Doñana across the water and the prawns; Cádiz forty minutes away; the hotel's own spa; and, at the winery, what doesn't fit into an afternoon — La Gitana's Noche en Rama, with seven courses, seven paired wines and live music in its cathedral winery, on select dates with very limited places. Tell us who's travelling and what they feel like. Designing your bespoke trip costs nothing: the initial proposal and one revision. From the third version onward, finalising the itinerary costs €100, fully deducted from your trip's price if you book it with us.
