The North Course climbs the rise, and from up there you see, in a single glance, El Rompido's sand spit, the estuary and the Atlantic. It opened in June 2006, asks for power and precision in equal measure, and is the one that carries the resort's name abroad: Top 100 Golf Courses ranks it among the country's best. The South Course was the first one — by Álvaro Arana, opened October 2003 — and it's a different thing: flat, an easy walk, played among pines, olives and marshland, with wide greens that are among the fastest in Andalusian golf: a difficulty you don't see from the tee and that appears once you arrive. Both are par 72 and both have five tee options, so the same course works for a 5 handicap and a 30. What really sets this place apart is what isn't there. Thirty-six holes set inside the Piedras River marshland nature reserve, and it's the only resort of this size in Huelva without a single development in sight: the fairways are surrounded only by pines, wild olive and estuary. The hotel is a five-star right on the course.

Thirty-six holes in a day. A same-day second round gets 50% off carts and buggies. With two courses right at the hotel door and that rate, playing thirty-six holes in one day here is cheap and makes sense.
