Two brand-new links on Portugal's last empty coast

Five years ago there was no golf here. The Alentejo coast was, and still is, the last stretch of Portugal left unbuilt: sixty kilometres of sand between pine forests and rice paddies, the Atlantic on one side and the Sado Estuary on the other. An hour from Lisbon. In 2023, Dunas opened, by David McLay-Kidd — the man behind Bandon Dunes — over a thousand hectares of dune. It's now Portugal's number one in the Top100GolfCourses ranking. In 2025, Torre opened, ten minutes away, designed by Sergio García. Two top-tier courses where there used to be none, and almost nobody in Spain knows it yet. You sleep at Spatia Comporta: two hundred hectares of pine forest and rice paddy, 40 m² rooms opening onto their own patio, an adults-only heated pool, grass tennis courts and two restaurants. Twelve kilometres from the first tee, ten minutes by car.

Three ways to play

Dunas

THREE NIGHTS · TWO ROUNDS · VALID ON DUNAS OR TORRE

Two rounds on Portugal's number one, or one on each course. Dunas plays on fescue, with six sets of tees and a slope of 140 from the back: play it short and enjoy it, or get behind the tees and make it hard on yourself. Three nights is the long weekend for whoever wants to know the place before committing to a week.

Three rounds split between the two, which is the point, because they don't resemble each other: Dunas is Atlantic dune over a thousand hectares, and Torre, ten minutes away, is a par 72 by Sergio García on bermuda. Green fees for multiple rounds are valid on either, within seven days, so the split is decided as you go.

Golf without counting rounds for seven days, on both courses. And here's the detail: over the five-round stay, going unlimited costs very little more. For whoever goes out in the morning and repeats in the afternoon, there's nothing in our catalogue that gives you this much golf.

What makes this trip different isn't the course: it's getting there first. Dunas opened in October 2023 and is already Portugal's number one; Torre has been open a year. Within five seasons this will be a must-stop, booked months out. Right now, it plays almost empty.

Rest of your trip, your way

Comporta lends itself to staying longer than planned. We can add transfers from Lisbon, a group dinner under the century-old olive trees, tennis or padel lessons, horses through the rice paddies, a dolphin-watching trip on the Sado Estuary, or a tasting at the Setúbal wineries. And for a group or a family, a whole villa with a private pool instead of rooms, depending on who's travelling and what they feel like. Designing your bespoke trip costs nothing: the initial proposal and one revision. From the third version onward, finalising the itinerary costs €100, fully deducted from your trip's price if you book it with us.

Extras and add-ons, with their price

Half board: €45 per person per day. Drinks not included.
Solo use: on request — the supplement is small, and at this house travelling alone doesn't mean paying double.

Price

Depending on the stay chosen: from €845 (Dunas, 3 nights), from €1,340 (Both Courses, 5 nights), or from €2,120 (Comporta Week, 7 nights). Per person in a Deluxe double room with two golfers, accommodation and breakfast, February and November.

Booking conditions

Maximum handicap 54, on request and at set times. Groups of four, with no minimum or maximum number of players. Only registered players may be on the course: a non-playing companion can't walk along. There are no pull carts — you play with a buggy, included, or carrying your bag. If play is suspended for weather, the club issues a voucher for another date and doesn't refund the amount. Dress code: no jeans, no collarless shirts, no shorts that aren't tailored.

Cancellation policy

A 30% deposit is due on confirmation, non-refundable, with the rest due 45 days before arrival. Cancellation fees: 30% up to 45 days out, 50% from 45 to 31 days, and 100% from 30 days out, for no-shows or early departures. Cancelling within 14 days of booking, with more than 60 days still to go before arrival, refunds everything paid, deposit included. We recommend taking out cancellation insurance.
