Barceló Montecastillo 5★ or Barceló Costa Ballena 4★ · Jerez and Rota
Three courses with a name in the same week, and a single suitcase. Montecastillo, Jack Nicklaus's par 72 that picked up Valderrama's baton and hosted five straight Volvo Masters. Costa Ballena, José María Olazábal's twenty-seven holes among lakes, several running to the sea. And Sherry Golf, on the outskirts of Jerez, host since 2006 of the European Tour's qualifying stage. Five rounds in seven nights, and no mid-week hotel change: you unpack once and that's it. None of the three courses is more than half an hour from either base, so transfers are short and mornings start late. The only thing to decide is where to sleep, and that choice changes more than it looks: three of the five rounds are played at the course of the hotel you sleep in. The same three labels, arranged differently, and two hotels that have nothing in common.

A five-star in a nineteenth-century castle overlooking the Nicklaus course, with bed and breakfast. Three of the five rounds are played straight from the garden, and Sherry Golf is also in Jerez: you only really drive on the Costa Ballena day. The base for those mainly coming for the Nicklaus — and the one that leaves the Tradición winery ten minutes downhill. Winter window: 22 November to 25 February.
from €1,090
A four-star eight hundred metres from the beach, with dinner included all seven nights — there's a good part of the price difference — and the nine-hole PAR 3 as a second round on playing afternoons. Three rounds on Olazábal's twenty-seven holes are enough to really get to know them, and Sanlúcar is a quarter-hour away. Winter window: 1–14 November and 5–28 February.
Per person in a double room · each base has its own regime and its own winter window, indicated with it · two wineries included, in Jerez and in Sanlúcar.
Two free days remain, and wine comes in double within the price. Bodegas Tradición, in Jerez, fills one: the only house that bottles nothing under thirty years old, with a picture gallery of Zurbarán, Velázquez, El Greco, Goya and Sorolla among the casks and the oldest surviving archive of Jerez wine, from 1650. Hidalgo La Gitana, in Sanlúcar, fills none of them: its visit is at seven in the evening, once you've already played, among candles with the manzanilla drawn from the cask with a venencia. So the second free day stays free.
Any of these stays is the skeleton, not the whole trip. On top of it we build whatever you want to experience, booked and quoted firm: a table at the area's best restaurants, spa and wellness, city visits, and bespoke experiences at our wineries, from a sunset tasting to a paired dinner inside the winery itself. Tell us who's travelling and what they feel like. Designing your bespoke trip costs nothing: the initial proposal and one revision. From the third version onward, finalising the itinerary costs €100, fully deducted from your trip's price if you book it with us.
From €970 per person
Depending on the base chosen: from €970 (Montecastillo Base) or from €1,090 (Costa Ballena Base). Per person in a double room; each base has its own regime, winter window and cancellation terms.
Maximum handicap 28 for men and 36 for women, with certificate, at the Montecastillo base. The order of the courses is set by tee-time availability and confirmed before travel. At Montecastillo the club requires a buggy on tee times before 11am, except from 22 November to 25 February. Each base has its own regime, its own winter window and its own cancellation terms, because they are two separate contracts. Bodegas Tradición receives groups of up to ten or twelve people, never mixed with other visitors; from twelve players onward the group is split into two consecutive sessions. La Gitana's night visit is held Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 19:00, in English on Wednesdays; the day is fixed when tee times are confirmed. Both wineries close bookings in advance and are reserved together with the stay.
A 30% deposit is due on confirmation, non-refundable, with the rest due 45 days before arrival. Cancellation fees: 30% up to 45 days out, 50% from 45 to 31 days, and 100% from 30 days out, for no-shows or early departures. Cancelling within 14 days of booking, with more than 60 days still to go before arrival, refunds everything paid, deposit included. We recommend taking out cancellation insurance.
